Learning to Read

in The Monkey, a different perspective, toddlers

Baby girl read her first word!

I have a shirt that says “mom” on it – it was a Mother’s Day gift.

Well, last night, as I’m putting on her jammies, she points to the letters and says:

M – O – M – MOM!

Wow! The husband and I were just completely amazed.

  • @Jai: I hear the "d" sound is easier than the "m" sound which is why most kids say dad before mom.

@Kelly: That looks like a great tool! Seems fun.
  • hi guys. in case anyone's interested, i thought this was a neat idea: a site where kids learning to read can practice doing so (there are number games too, I think) while "hanging out" with a parent, grandparent, etc. via the internet. basically, the kids can see and hear their grandparent and play learning games with them online...

Yea Jayden's first word was dada too. He now calls him Dada, Daddy AND Papi. I'm like well isn't he important huh! Me it's just ma. What can you do right? Maybe his first read word will be Mom. :)
