Mother's Day

What do you normally do on Mother’s Day? Do you stay home and relax? Go out to eat?

This will be my 5th year celebrating Mother’s Day for myself; before that it was all about my mami. Of course, that means that I share the celebrations with my mom now. Usually, this means I do a little relaxing at home with my family and then visit my mother for the other half of the day. I think once we all went out to eat together. But, we’ve never really done a family day out for Mother’s Day. I think maybe next year I will plan a beach trip so we can all enjoy the wonderful May weather and both my mom and I can relax by the ocean.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, Nestle Family is currently holding a national giveaway on their site and also offering a giveaway for ModernMami.com readers.

I normally don't do anything special. Sometimes, I go out for lunch, but that's all.

We go to church in the morning and then head to my mom's house for a pool party. The guys do most of the cooking and cleaning up so we can relax.

Mother's Day sometimes I'll visit my Mom, but usually she just wants to relax that day.

Sometimes my husband will buy me a small bottle of my favorite perfume, but usually it's just the kids making me a really crappy breakfast (with love though! LOL), and some homemade cards :)

We now celebrate by going to my Mom's grave first thing in the morning and then going to lunch and a musical at the local theater in her honor (she loved the theater and we all love it because of her)

Usually my husband and kids let me sleep in and they make me a nice breakfast and perhaps clean up the house. I always get some excited kids giving me beautiful handmade gifts which is just awesome and then we go to church. The afternoon is lazy and spent doing something fun as a family.
