3 Tips to Make Sure You Eat While Working from Home!

Now that the kids have been back to school for about a month, I’m starting to nail down my daily routine. It’s still a bit of a work-in-progress, but I’m getting there. One of the areas that definitely needs improvement is making sure I take time out of my day to eat well. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or snacks, ensuring that I take breaks from work throughout the day (especially since I work for myself with a home-based office) is important for my well-being. Whenever I go too long without eating, I feel the physical effects (i.e., headaches) and that also often leads to a decrease in efficiency. With a bit of preparation, though, you can avoid going too long without eating or reaching for junk food when hunger finally strikes. Check out these ideas to help ensure you eat while working from home!

Making sure you actually take a break for lunch is important when you work at home. It’s easy to continue working on the computer and skip eating, but if you set a daily alarm for lunchtime, it will help you to step away. Try to make lunchtime a time for you and completely step away from work; it’ll still be there 20 minutes later when you return!

2. Pre-pack lunch

Just as if you were working outside the home, pre-packing your lunch can be extremely helpful! You won’t have an excuse of not knowing what to eat or needing to cook – simply grab your packed lunch (heat, if necessary) and eat! I often pack leftovers from the previous night’s dinner, but a salad or sandwich with fruit works well too.

3. Have easily accessible snacks

Since lunch is not the only time you’ll eat throughout the day, stocking up on protein-filled snacks to keep your energy going is always a good idea. Nuts, fruit, and vegetables are great for snacking on throughout the day. I recently also found ZonePerfect bars, which are full of protein and come in delicious flavors like Dark Chocolate Almond and Chocolate Almond Raisin, among many others. They’ve been working great as a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack and are especially good for days when I run errands or if I’m running late. (I simply stick one in my purse before I head out of the house!) It’s those #LittleWins in our day that count the most, don’t you think?

3 Tips to Make Sure You Eat While Working from Home!

You can find ZonePerfect bars in the pharmacy section of Walmart, so you can easily grab them during your next grocery shopping trip as you find food to keep you fueled during your work day. By having snacks readily available that are full of protein, you will avoid making poor snacking choices that you’ll later regret. #ZonePerfectLittleWins come in many flavors, so be sure to check your Walmart and find the ZonePerfect bars you enjoy the most!

Great ideas. I find that I’m busy working then I’m starving and I wind up grabbing whatever is in the fridge. . .not a solid plan.
