Do your Kids Play Computer Games?

June 29, 2009 By Melanie Edwards 12 Comments

We are a tech-heavy household. That’s not to say that we don’t do any hands-on activities, such as crafts, coloring, and puzzles. It’s just that both my husband and I love technology and use it daily. So, it’s only natural that our baby girl will grow up in a technology-filled house and will learn to use it early on.

She already knows how to navigate our iPod touch, knows how to work a computer mouse, and knows many techy words. How many three year olds do you know that have words such as blog and email in their vocabulary?

Mine does.

The latest activity that she likes to do is play on the computer. Since she learned how to use the mouse, she likes to go on “the real computer” (our laptop) and play games online.

Of course, we limit how long she plays at any given time and we’re sitting right next to her when she plays. This way, she can still interact with us as she plays and we can guide and help her if she needs us to.

Where does she go to play online games? Here are some of her favorite places to visit:

  • Noggin
  • Sesame Street
  • PBS Kids
  • Nick Jr
  • Playhouse Disney

Of particular interest to her are the Dora games and lately Special Agent Oso has been a hit as well.

Does your toddler or preschooler play computer games? What sites do they enjoy? Do they have a favorite game?

Emma prefers my iPhone and her favorite thing to do on it is send her daddy garbled text messages.

@Miss Britt, At least I only have the iPod touch, so she hasn’t figured out how to call/send text yet. I bet Jared loves it every time he hears his phone ring.

Great list! We got hooked on Jumpstart.com which is pretty cool…it does cost $7/month but our daughter LOVES to play it.

We are pregnant with our first baby right now, and I can tell you our little one will be all over the computer and ipod touches. Both my husband and I have been using computer since we were kids. I am 22 and we had our first family computer when I was 3 and I played video games on it (mind you I played DOS games not online games).

I see no problem raising a tech savey kid, in a techy world.

Jag har använt dualit i 1,5år och de är den bästa elvispen nånsin.Assistent orginal har ju vunnit många tester så den vet ja är grym, och
då jag vann en i dag så ska de bli så spännande att
    få baka med en bakmaskin.

If you can make a cycle that includes customers and a search they often
use, they can locate your business and purchase your products.
The additional fees did not matter because students had
that FREE computer education in mind. Some blogs contain Social Media that becomes viral,
such as pictures, video and audio.

Many Auto SMS System providers and carriers permit either a
limited or an infinite number of test messages.
When marketing online, one of the initial steps of engaging in
a campaign is to know the demographics of the target
audience. People knew JUNO was about an unwed mother long
before they knew anything else about the film.

I didn’t like that and I still wanted to make money in my MLM so I turned to online and what a head ache until I found this.
These types of schemes should be avoided at all costs.
You must chalk out the tasks to be done each day to achieve your target.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about
this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than that, this is
fantastic blog. A great read. I’ll definitely be
    back.
