This summer has been full of baking with my daughter. She is loving being able to do more in the kitchen and has even baked twice all by herself. When I asked her to help me come up with a fruit-filled dessert, she was more than happy to do so! We decided to combine the chocolaty goodness of brownies with some of our favorite fruits – berries! Check out the berry-infused brownies we made with fresh berries from Walmart and see how simple they are to bake with your own children!
Berrylicious Brownies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 box of brownie mix + ingredients listed on package
- 1 cup raspberries, rinsed
- 1 cup strawberries, rinsed and sliced
- 2 tsp sugar or Splenda
Directions
1. Mix brownie batter according to package instructions.
2. In a medium bowl, mash raspberries and strawberries using a potato masher or similar tool.
3. Add sugar to berry mixture.
4. Spread brownie batter into baking pan. Then, pour berry mixture over batter. Swirl a bit to mix it into batter.
5. Bake according to package instructions, until toothpick comes out clean.
These brownies really are delicious and were fun and easy to make! My daughter enjoyed mashing the berries and mixing the batter, both things that her 4-year-old brother could have helped us with, had he been home! It was great to use fresh strawberries and raspberries from the Walmart produce section and even better to know that they offer a 100% money back guarantee on fresh produce. While I haven’t needed to use it myself, it’s wonderful to know that should I ever have any issues with produce purchased at Walmart, I can return it and get a refund.
