First Haircut Hints, Tips, and Advice

May 7, 2007 By Melanie Edwards 4 Comments

Baby girl has never had a haircut. Her hair isn’t very long, but I’m thinking of trimming the top of her hair to see if it will help to train the hair and possibly help it grow out some more.

I’m kinda tired of the mohawk look she’s had for a while! 🙂

Toddler Mohawk

Now, being that she’s a toddler, a very squirmy toddler, I’m a little scared she’ll get hurt. Plus, there’s no guarantee she’ll sit still for the length of the haircut.

So, I’m looking for any tips, hints, advice, ideas, etc., you might have on the whole first haircut experience.

If you’ve had a good experience, let me know.

If you’ve had a bad experience, also let me know.

Any suggestions will be of help.

Updated 5/10: I made an appointment for baby girl to get her haircut on Saturday. Wish me luck!

I would just wait until she is sleep, then prop her up and trim down the top. she wont even know it happened

    lol – oh my
Though that would probably work, I’m not so sure I can trust myself to not butcher her hair! 😉

Turn the TV on with her favorite show or let hubby read her a book. That should probably do the trick but if not, you might need to wait for a while until she turns 3 when she can understand the meaning of the phrase “stay still” =)
