4 Ways We Make Brushing Teeth Fun as a Family!

As our kids grow and we continue our parenting journey, I’ll admit that we are growing more aware of ingredients, something that wasn’t always on our radar. While we’re still not super strict about it, we are more mindful and are reading more labels – with food and hygienic supplies. This has become a little more important in our house now that we have a tween daughter, but is equally important for our five-year-old. As such, when offered the opportunity to try out Hello naturally friendly™ oral care products, I decided to learn more about their line of adult and kids’ toothpastes and breath sprays. Check out how we make brushing teeth fun in our house and see why Hello products might be just right for your family!

4 Ways We Make Brushing Teeth Fun as a Family!

4 Ways We Make Brushing Teeth Fun!

  1. Make it a Family Affair! This began when our kids were younger in an effort to teach them proper oral hygiene skills, but even at 5 and 10-years-old, they still enjoy brushing their teeth with us. So, particularly before bedtime, we gather the whole family in our master bathroom and brush away!
  2. Hum a Song: While brushing teeth, hum a song for the length of time you should brush teeth. (I believe the recommended time is 2 minutes.) My 5-year-old, especially, is a fan of this and enjoys humming Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star while brushing.
  3. Make it an (Anti) Race: Since we wouldn’t want to rush through brushing our teeth, we have an anti-race by setting a timer and seeing who can brush the longest. The key is to NOT beat the timer! This definitely gets fun for the kids!
  4. Reward with Stickers: This works particularly well with younger kids, but older kids may surprise you at their ability to get in on the silly fun. My 10-year-old can still appreciate a cute sticker, so she actually enjoyed the variety sent to us by Hello products!

Hello Naturally Friendly Toothpastes for Kids & Parents

Hello products contain no dyes, artificial sweeteners, triclosan, microbeads, or parabens. They offer both fluoride toothpaste, as well as fluoride-free and SLS-free toothpastes (for both kids and adults). They also have a whitening toothpaste that’s free of peroxide. Flavor varieties include: pure mint, supermint, mojito mint, sweet mint, and for the kids, bubble gum, blue raspberry, and natural watermelon (fluoride free). Don’t they sound great? We really liked the Extra Whitening Pure Mint Fluoride Toothpaste and the kids favored the Blue Raspberry Fluoride Toothpaste.

Hello also makes breath sprays in an adorable, small, package. I loved the size because it’s easy to carry in your purse, pocket (which my husband appreciated), or stick in the car. Breath spray flavors are mojito mint and supermint (similarly to the toothpastes in case you want to match!) and both are free of alcohol! (Again, they’re also free of dyes and artificial sweeteners, just like the toothpastes.)

To learn more about Hello products, be sure to check out their site for more information on ingredients and how Hello products sources their materials! You’ll also see a link on their homepage inviting you to chat with their CEO via skype (username: hello.ceo) – how cool is that? If you’re ready to give their products a try, go ahead and download a coupon for $2 off Hello toothpaste and use their store finder to find a local retailer that carries their products. Otherwise, you’ll find Hello products online at Amazon, Target, Walmart, and other online stores.
