As we enter December, the countdown to Christmas and the holidays begins in most households. Over the weekend, our family set up our Christmas tree and a few other decorations around the house. The kids loved unpacking and seeing all of our Christmas decorations up and had a blast decorating! One other way to add to the holiday fun is to create simple holiday crafts for kids! While you can do elaborate holiday kids’ crafts, it’s also possible to enjoy a little craft time with the kids with simple, easy Christmas crafts. Using just a few supplies from the Walmart crafts section, the kids and I recently made these festive Christmas wooden magnets – check out how easy they are to make!

Christmas Crafts for Kids: Easy Wooden Magnets

Simple & Easy Christmas Wooden Magnets {Kids Craft}

Materials Needed:

  • Wooden clothespins, $1.97
  • Washi tape in Christmas or holiday prints and colors
  • Holiday foam stickers
  • Magnetic strips – These peel & stick strips are perfect for kids’ crafts and are only 97 cents for the pack!
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon in Christmas or holiday prints and colors (optional)
  • Glue (optional)

How to (Easily) Create Christmas Wooden Magnets for Kids

  1. Let your kids decorate one side of the clothespins to their liking using washi tape or ribbon. They can do solid color designs or create fun patterns!
  2. Add holiday foam stickers or other decorative pieces to complete a festive look.
  3. Cut a magnetic strip to fit the back of the clothespins, creating magnets.
  4. These holiday magnets are great for a bit of decoration on the fridge or without the magnetic strip, would be fun Christmas tree ornaments you can clip onto branches!

I learned how to make these fun Christmas magnets during a recent trip to the Walmart home office, where we had some time to play with various craft supplies found at Walmart and get creative! There are plenty of other ideas for holiday crafts for kids, such as the Christmas, Hanukkah, and winter crafts you’ll find among the various seasonal crafts shared by Horizon Group USA, makers of many of the kids’ craft supplies you find at Walmart. Grab a few ideas and sit down for an afternoon of fun holiday crafts with the kids!
