@Melanie (Modern Mami), thanks Melanie! Yes, I needed to make an appointment for a tour. I’m just glad my husband got two weeks off from work for my daughter’s first weeks at school. That way, he can just come to her rescue right away. All the best to you and your little one.

Thanks for this post. We just signed up our daughter in a childcare center. She’ll be starting in a few weeks. During the tour they all gave us the impression that my child would be in good hands in their school but now I’m a bit worried. It all sounded too good to be true.
I feel for you. It’s so difficult for a mom to see that your child get hurt (worse yet, if she really has been hurt while at school!)

@nilki benitez, We definitely spoke up and talked with them. Though we don’t know exactly how she got the scratch, and neither do they, they at least know we are aware and keep an eye on her. I’m sure they’ll keep an extra careful eye on her from now on. Thanks for your “ramble”

@Lisa, She’s just fine. We did talk with them and we understand that perhaps they didn’t even know it happened cause she didn’t tell them she got hurt.

@Liz, We talked with them and tried to find out what happened. They know we keep an eye on her & are aware. Whatever happened, we don’t believe it was intentional.

Oh, mami. I am truly hurting for you. I know this is THE single hardest experience yet. You have every right to be concerned. I suggest you set up a meeting with the teacher AND director immediately regarding your concerns. Don’t let it go, by afraid that you’re just making a big deal. This is your big deal, your hijita! I have learned that the very MINIMUM I need from a caregiver of my child is transperancy and documentation of any and all incidents. I spent a lot of money at a private school because I was afraid of the public system and here after a horrible year and thousands later, the public school has been 100% more reliable and trustworthy. The nurse even called me one afternoon to say that she had put a bandage on my daughter’s knee (scrape happened on dad’s watch) and my daughter had told her that I had said it should breathe. So she wanted to make sure I knew what was going on and that she had put the bandage on because the scrape had started oozing. I’m sorry to ramble, but really giving our child to someone else to care for is extremely worrisome and you have to be sure that the school and teacher understand and make it a point to have strict policies that they adhere to. No school or teacher should be learning through your child. In my opinion, and only because I have been there myself, mami, you and your daughter are at the wrong place. I mean really. Especially on the first day! I feel for your pain. I’m so sorry. I hope you can figure things out soon. Go on and let them hear mami roar!

That is just awful! I’m so sorry. When something happens at school, they are supposed to notify you, no matter what! What is wrong with that teacher? I would definitely talk to the principal. This is a serious matter and you want to know what’s going on.

Oh no!!! And you had some relife by finally choosing a pre-school! Girl, I would go and raise HELL!!! No one and I mean NO ONE does that and gets away with it. What do you plan to do now… Things like this infuriate me. We entrust our children to other (and pay them) and they do this to them… OH HELL NO!!!! ((*hugs*))
