Do you have movies you’d love to be able to watch on the road or movies your kids love, but don’t want to necessarily carry the portable DVD player or a digital copy didn’t come with the DVD? Walmart now has a service where you can access digital copies of movies you already own! The service is called Disc to Digital and uses Vudu to provide you with digital versions of your movies.

It’s fairly simple to use, but you want to be sure you sign up for an account on Vudu.com first, search the list of available Disc to Digital movies, then go to Walmart with your discs to add the digital versions to your Vudu account.

Unfortunately, you can’t just get the digital versions of any movie, but there are quite a few available from the following movie companies: Paramount Home Media Distribution, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. So far, we’ve used the service to get digital versions of movies my husband likes a lot and would enjoy watching when not home – 300, The Book of Eli, and The Dark Knight. I know this will be really useful for kid movies too, since we know kids fall in love with movies and practically can’t live without their favorite until they decide on a new favorite.

As I mentioned in the video, the cost for this service is very affordable:

• $2 for Standard DVD or Blu-ray movies
• $5 for acquiring an HD digital copy of a Standard DVD
