Arabian Nights, Orlando Dinner Show

Orlando’s claim as one of the world’s top vacation destinations is hard to argue.  The list of attractions is as long as it is varied, with a certain mouse-inspired resort remaining the main draw for most visitors.  Those wanting to venture a bit off the beaten path, however, have many options to explore, including a horse-inspired dinner attraction.

Located in nearby Kissimmee, Arabian Nights offers nightly dinner shows that feature a range of performers carrying out various stunts on horseback while also telling a story of romance and magic.  We were provided an opportunity to experience their all-new show, The Royal Celebration, and participate in a special backstage VIP tour.  Available as an add-on package, the VIP tour takes guests behind the scenes providing an up-close look at the horses featured in the show.  A tour guide leads guests throughout the stables providing information about the horses while also answering guests’ questions.  The tour also provides guests an opportunity to meet a number of the performers in the show and this is where we got an opportunity to interview Kacin Mercer, an acrobat with a background in theater and gymnastics.

In describing the show itself, Kacin revealed that her role as an acrobat included the usage of aerial silks while other actors perform various stunts including standing on a moving horse.  Kacin also encourages guests to suspend disbelief as they partake in the show as guests of a royal wedding.  The wedding guests the night we attended certainly did partake in the celebration with young kids, especially, remaining engaged.  The audience let out very audible ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’ upon seeing a white unicorn early on in the show.  At the conclusion of the show, guests young and old can approach the edge of the stage and pet the horses.  Those wanting even more interaction with the show’s main stars will want to participate in the VIP tour to round-out their experience.
