Dear Dumb Diary Movie on Hallmark Channel

My girl loves, loves, loves to read. As such, we’re always checking out books from the library or purchasing new ones for her to enjoy. She already loves many children’s book series, but one she had not yet explored is the Dear Dumb Diary series. To be honest, she was very hesitant to do so because of the word ‘dumb’ in the series’ title – she feared there’d be more inappropriate language in the books and wasn’t sure she should read them. Knowing that sometimes books use specific language to portray the character and that it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s inappropriate, I presented the opportunity to read one of the books together, discuss anything questionable, and make it a learning opportunity.

She loved the idea of reading Dear Dumb Diary together and agreed to give the series a chance. Plus, when I told her the books had been made into a movie we could also watch together, it became even more exciting for her! I’m going to let her tell you in her own words what she thought about Dear Dumb Diary #6: The Problem With Here Is That It’s Where I’m From, the book we read together. Read on for her thoughts and to learn more about the movie premiering on the Hallmark Channel tomorrow!

Kids’ Review of Dear Dumb Diary

Dear Dumb Diary is a very humorous book. A character I like is Aunt Carol; she’s really funny and makes up thinks. You would want to read this book when you’re around 7 or 8 years old, but I think you would also like it if you were older.

As I mentioned, the Dear Dumb Diary book series has been adapted into a movie, which you can only watch via the Walden Family Theater, presented by Walmart and P&G. The premier of Dear Dumb Diary is tomorrow, Friday, September 6 on the Hallmark Channel and I’m looking forward to having a family movie night to expand on my girl’s reading of the book! Check out the Dear Dumb Diary trailer below to get a glimpse of the movie!

If you can’t watch Dear Dumb Diary this Friday, you can watch it again on the Hallmark Channel when they replay it on September 13 and October 11. In addition to purchasing the Dear Dumb Diary books at Walmart, you can also stock up on snacks in-store for your family movie night, plus purchase the DVD of the Dear Dumb Diary movie beginning Tuesday, September 10! Oh, and look at these cute Dear Dumb Diary inspired looks for your girl on Walmart’s Pinterest board! Think your daughter would want to dress like Jamie?

Have your children read any of the Dear Dumb Diary books? Which is their favorite? Don’t forget to come back and tell me what you thought of the movie!

I started watching this movie and fell asleep=( but I loved what I saw and I look forward to it being on dvd. I had never heard of my dear dumb diary (books) and I plan to get them all for my 9 year old niece and introduce her and her sister to the movie, because I KNOW they will love it. Such a cute movie!( what I saw at least, I intend to watch the rest next Friday!)

My girls watched this one and they thought it was good. They are already critics at 8 and 11, but that is how it goes. I think my youngest would enjoy the book more than the older one, that is what I am after today. Some great book ideas for birthday and Christmas gifts. I found an author that has a couple really cute winter books that I picked up. The Reindeer Keeper and The Snowman Maker. Barbara Briggs Ward is the author, they look fantastic so I recommend taking a look at them. barbarabriggsward.com. Always good to get an early start on the shopping!
