As my girl grows older, I’m starting to teach her the importance of caring for your skin. She’s been moisturizing her body for a while now, but recently, she’s started to use face wash and pay special attention to properly cleaning and moisturizing her face. I have shown her some of my own skin care routine, which includes daily washing and moisturizing. I also try to drink lots of water, not just for my skin’s health (though that’s an added bonus), and she’s starting to drink more as well.

Eucerin shared these quick skin care tips with me that I think are a great reminder and a good starter for teaching our children how to care for their skin. Here are 4 ways to help keep your skin healthy!

4 Skin Care Tips to Share with Your Children (Provided by Eucerin)

  1. Cleanse gently: Remember to wash your face before you go to sleep each night – it will help to keep skin hydrated, soft and smooth. Whether your skin is dry, oily, or somewhere in between, dermatologists recommend using a mild, non-irritating cleanser rather than a harsh soap, like Eucerin’s Gentle Hydrating Cleanser.
  2. Get plenty of rest: Getting a full 6-8 hours of sleep is important for your overall well-being and helps your skin look its best.
  3. Amp up your antioxidants: Stock up on foods with high antioxidant levels, like squash, spinach, strawberries and cantaloupe, which can help neutralize free radicals that can damage collagen and elastin.
  4. Water, water, water: Drinking plenty of water is key to maintaining a healthy moisture balance and a glowing complexion. Make sure you consume at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day! If you’re on the go, bring a water bottle along to prevent dehydration.

I make sure (usually) to wash my face at night. It’s not something that I was every told to do when I was young so it’s hard for me to remember to do it every single night. I have talked to my daughter about it and she always cleans at night. She’s got a much nicer complexion than I did at her age because of it. thank you!
